How much does a trip to Tokyo cost per day?

Is Tokyo expensive for tourists?
Less than its reputation. Hotels are the big cost, but food can be very cheap: ramen, curry, set lunches and convenience-store meals cost far less than in New York or London, and many temples, shrines and parks are free.
Do I need a JR Pass for Tokyo?
Not for Tokyo alone. It only pays off with long Shinkansen trips, such as Tokyo to Kyoto and back plus more. Our transit calculator checks your route.
How can I save money in Tokyo?
Eat set lunches, ramen and konbini food, use a Suica card or the Tokyo Subway Ticket, stay in a business hotel, and fill days with free sights: Meiji Jingu, Senso-ji, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government observation decks and the city's parks.
